I am currently in Scotland and promised myself that I would be sharing more once I was back. However, today I received a prophetic image for someone that I believe more people need to hear.
First, there are a few things to note. Prophetic words are used to encourage and build up the church. Paul talks A LOT about this in 1 Corinthians. Specifically chapter 14. Even the first verse says "[f]ollow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy" (1 Corinthians 14:1).
In order to fully understand and have the ability to give a prophetic word, you have to be confident in hearing God's voice. However, because we, as humans, play a role in this, it will never be 100% accurate. This is because we are not perfect like Jesus. But it can be pretty darn close in accuracy. There's plenty more that goes into this that is aside from the message I am trying to portray in this post. I won't go more into why I find it so important now, but I do encourage you to read about it if you are unfamiliar.
Anyways-- I want to start with the image I was given for someone on my team.
--
I saw her standing in a bathroom in front of the standard bathroom mirrors. We're talking incredibly basic. She looks at herself and all she sees is her imperfections. Every scar, every blemish, and every thing in her past that makes her believe she is unclean and unworthy.
Suddenly, this man (that I can only assume is Jesus) comes in with a sledgehammer and smashes the mirror she is looking into. He then replaces the destroyed mirror with a fancy mirror. This mirror has a incredible detailing on it's gold frame.
She looks into this mirror now. The only difference this time is the only thing she sees is her beauty. She's glowing. She has a brightness about her and she no longer notices the imperfections. It is as if they had all been washed away.
--
I believe this was to signify to her that right now she may see those imperfections. She may not see herself as beautiful. She may feel unworthy. BUT, because of the GRACE OF GOD He can restore her to the beauty He sees. With Him, she can glow again and continue to shine. He can and will wash away whatever is holding her captive to make her see herself that way. Through His grace, we are redeemed and free to see the beauty He has created within us. We are free to shine for Him.
But only through Him will we have the ability to shine like that. Only He can restore us. Just like only He destroyed the first mirror and replaced it with the one that reflects the way He sees us.
We need Him. We need His grace. And the coolest part about it is it knows no limits. He is willing to come and shatter that basic mirror you see your reflection in and replace it with one so beautiful. Yet, this is only if we allow Him to.
So let me ask-- which mirror are you guilty of seeing your reflection in? What would it look like for us to start living in the grace that washes away those imperfections and makes us worthy?
